Last week I shared with you my top 10 geek baby boy names. Since we found out we are having a baby girl this time around, you can imagine our list of geek baby girl names was extensive. We have so many fandoms we love while wanting to make sure we found the perfect name for our next little girl.
We eventually landed on the name Marceline Cinderella. Marceline came from our love of Adventure Time’s Marceline the Vampire Queen and my own love of Disney History (Marceline, Missouri is the place that Walt Disney considers his boyhood home and based Main Street, USA on this cute little town! And Main Street, USA is a location I worked when I was a Disney Cast Member). Cinderella came from combining the name Ella, the name our oldest wanted to name the baby, and Cindy, my late aunt.
Because we had so many names on our list for our new baby girl, I wanted to share with you some of my favorites in hopes that it’ll spark some ideas for you in your search for the perfect geek baby girl name.
Marvel
What kind of geek baby girl names list would this be if I didn’t contain our original geek baby girl name? This name originated for us from Marvel Comics but it’s also a great call out to Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and even Marvel in the Hunger Games (yes I know that character is a boy). Our daughter loves seeing her name on all the Marvel movies and learning about the Marvel characters. It also helps her feel strong and unique!
Arwen
One of my favorite names from one of my favorite books, Lord of the Rings. Arwen is both elegant and strong, like the Elven namesake.
Diana
This name is a twofold geek name. Diana is the Roman Goddess hunt and the first name of Wonder Woman. The Greek counterpart, Artemis, is also a good option!
Leia
From a galaxy far far away, this Star Wars inspired name is a simple but graceful name. Your little princess may turn out to be an inspirational general (or at least leader). But don’t be surprised with her quick wit!
River
Perfect for a spunky girl who’s love will span through all of space and time. River comes from the BBC series Doctor Who. This was actually in the top 3 for when we were naming our first daughter.
Lyanna
An alternative name from Game of Thrones to the popular Arya. Lyanna is the beautiful sister of Ned Stark.
Ramona
Ramona Flowers, a girl so awesome that Scott Pilgrim fought off her evil exes to win her love. She’s strong and smart and willing to give people a chance. A perfect namesake for your next little girl.
Luna
This name is already gaining popularity, and for a good reason! Whether you think of the moon or our favorite quirky Ravenclaw in Harry Potter, your girl will surely shine with a name like Luna!
Enfys
This Welsh name meaning rainbow comes from the leader of the Cloud Rider’s in Solo: A Star Wars Story, Enfys Nest. Rainbows are a symbol of hope after the storm, so this name is perfect for your hoped-for child.
Hera
The wife of Zeus and character and gifted pilot in Star Wars Rebels, you can’t go wrong with this classic and beautiful name!
Girls make great geeks too and having using geek girl names is a great way to help your daughter identify early on with a fandom that you and your spouse enjoy and provides a great story for her to tell when asked how your parents came up with their name.
Have you named a daughter after a fandom? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below! And don’t forget to check out my Geek Baby Boy Names post for ideas for the little guys!
